Kona Grill Now Open in Fort Worth, Texas

Kona Grill, Inc. Kona Grill, Inc. (NASDAQ: KONA), an American grill and sushi bar, announced the opening of its newest restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas on February 6, 2014.

The new Kona Grill is located at 3028 Crockett Street, and sits at the highly trafficked West 7th Street, Camp Bowie Boulevard, and University Drive intersection, which are next to both the West 7th Street mixed-use urban development and the museum district, in the heart of Fort Worth’s cultural district. The 7,500 square foot restaurant features an outdoor patio, a signature 12.5 foot aquarium, and a glass elevator leading to a rooftop patio with retractable roof.

“Yesterday we opened our latest Kona Grill in Fort Worth with great fanfare,” said Berke Bakay, President and CEO. ”From our unique aquarium to the rooftop bar, this is undoubtedly a beautiful restaurant, and we are proud that this restaurant exemplifies our polished-casual concept. Fox Restaurant Concepts Enters Cold-Pressed Juice Market With Launch of Juby True

Fox RestauranJuby Truet Concepts has expanded its presence in the thriving health-conscious restaurant market with the opening of Juby True, which stands for “Juice by True,” a juice bar poised to become a multi-unit concept by the end of 2014.

FRC, which has 40 restaurants under 13 brands in six states, opened Juby True in October as an extension to the restaurant group’s Scottsdale, Ariz. location of True Food Kitchen. The globally influenced restaurant debuted in Phoenix in 2008 and was developed in partnership with world-renowned leader in integrative medicine and best-selling author, Dr. Andrew Weil. It has since expanded into California, Colorado and Texas and has plans to open locations in Georgia, Virginia and Massachusetts. New units of Juby True will be both stand alone locations and extensions of True Food Kitchen locations.

The launch of the walk-up juice bar is in response to the increasing demand for more healthful food options, said Sam Fox, CEO and founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts, based in Phoenix.

“When we first opened True Food Kitchen, we recognized the need for restaurants that offer nutritious food that also tastes good,” Fox said. “We instilled the same philosophy in Juby True, but this time in a portable, convenient cup.”

National Restaurant Association studies confirm the increasing interest in health and nutrition among today’s restaurant guests. In fact, 71 percent of adults said they are trying to eat healthier at restaurants than they did two years ago.

Juby True serves cold-pressed juices for $9, made in house and bottled for on-the-go convenience. The menu also features protein blends and smoothies for $8, water-based “hydrators” for $7, “juice boosts” for $4, coffees and teas ranging from $2-$6, and a variety of gluten-free, vegan and paleo-friendly snacks priced between $3 and $4. Additionally Juby True offers one- and two-day cleanse packages for $50 and $99, respectively.

Fruits and vegetables are sourced from local and regional organic farms in relation to “The Dirty Dozen” list. The foundation of Juby True was built with strong influences from True Food Kitchen’s anti-inflammatory philosophy.

Makers of the Alpine 360 Weigh in on New Frozen Yogurt Study

A Recent Study From ShopSmart Reveals the Public’s Perception of Favorite Brands and Flavors of Frozen Yogurt Available for Purchase In-Store; Makers of the Alpine 360 Explain How This Survey Could Influence Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt Trends

Summer is quickly approaching, and according to Alpine Freezer — distributors of the frozen yogurt machine Alpine 360 — this warm season is likely to reveal interesting trends in frozen desserts among American consumers. The company explains that while frozen yogurt — especially in terms of self-serve options — has remained a popular option among consumers for the past years, new market research may reveal interesting trends and fluctuations among the American public.

A recent article from The Wall Street Journal highlights a new survey from ShopSmart that identifies current consumer outlooks on what frozen yogurt brands and flavors are the most popular. The article explains, “Willing to splurge for a tasty frozen treat? Then look no further than Haagen-Dazs — the famed ice cream maker edged out the competition in ShopSmart’s recent taste-tests of vanilla frozen yogurts and butter pecan ice creams. The report, which features the full results of taste-tests of 12 vanilla frozen yogurts and nine butter pecan ice creams, is available in the June 2013 issue of ShopSmart, from Consumer Reports, on newsstands now.”

While the results of the study are not surprising the makers of the Alpine 360, Alpine Freezer does not that these findings could impact the self-serve frozen yogurt industry. According to the article, the study found that “ShopSmart’s top picks for chocolate and vanilla ice creams have remained unchanged since its last test with Haagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry’s clinging to their respective titles. So this year, they decided to taste vanilla frozen yogurt, the most popular flavor and butter pecan ice cream, which is among the best-selling flavors.”

In a recent press statement, the makers of the Alpine 360 respond, “While the Consumer Reports study refers only to those brands and flavors available for purchase in grocery stores or independent ice cream stores, it is important for frozen yogurt shops to pay attention to these trends. Specifically, it would prove a good idea for providers to look at the details of this new report as reason enough to continue to offer vanilla bean and butter pecan flavors in the restaurant setting.”

While many frozen yogurt restaurant establishments are likely to already provide these popular flavors, Alpine Freezer explains that introduction of Alpine 360 devices could improve taste and quality of the consumer product.
